Job Title:  CT Technologist                                               FLSA Status:  Non-Exempt

Position Summary

 

Produce computerized tomographic scanner radiographs of designated anatomical areas as ordered/directed, according to established practices and procedures.

 

Essential Functions

 

Receive assignment.  Review requisitions.  Check and prepare equipment and supplies.

 

Prepare patient and adjust equipment to produce computerized tomographic of

examination ordered.  Position and instruct patient regarding procedure.  Administer

contrast media when ordered by venous puncture and/or existing IV site as specified by

Radiologist.

 

Produce adequate diagnostic images to complete exam.  Process film, prepare and deliver

to Radiologist for interpretation.

 

Maintain established departmental policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance,

safety, environmental and infection control.

 

Provide information concerning CAT policies and procedures to patients, hospital

personnel, medical staff as requested.

 

Assist with maintenance and care of departmental facilities, equipment, and supplies.

Inform supervisor of supply needs.

 

Alert supervisor to malfunction of equipment and call for maintenance and repair as

directed.  Document maintenance.

 

Maintain departmental records, reports, and files as required.  Collect statistics as directed.

 

Enhance professional growth and development through inservice education, current

literature, seminar, etc.

 

Available for “on call” responsibilities as assigned.

 

Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

 

Graduate of an accredited program in Radiology Technology.

 

Registration as a Radiology Technologist. 

 

Completion of a training program in computerized assisted tomography.

 

Thorough knowledge of radiological and CAT terminology, practices and procedures,

physiology and human anatomy.

 

Two years CT experience

 

ARRT; CT Registry eligible.

 

CPR required.

 

Working Conditions

Able to lift 75 lbs.

Subject to electrical and radiant energy hazards.  Lifting patients, supplies, etc.
