Position Summary  Full Time -- SIGN ON BONUS $5000.00 (If Full Time Criteria is met)

 

Provides emergency and non‑emergency treatment and transportation in the pre-hospital and inter-hospital environments at the advanced life support level.  Works with a variety of people and organizations on a professional level to provide care to patients and the community.

 

Essential Functions

 

Provides pre-hospital, emergency patient care within the scope of practice of an EMT-Paramedic within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

 

Accurately completes all patient care documentation adequately according to DOH and department guidelines and requirements within a twenty-four hour timeframe.

 

Operates emergency vehicles with the Pennsylvania laws governing the operation of such vehicles.

 

Performs routine inspections as required, inventory, and maintenance of all patient care equipment.

 

Performs station duties as needed and assigned.

 

Maintains familiarity with, and follows all rules of the hospital’s policies and procedures as outlined in the administrative and department policy and procedure manuals.

 

Agrees to comply with the Corporate Compliance Policy and all laws, rules, regulations, and standards of conduct relating to the position and has a duty to report any suspected violations of the law or the standards of conduct to his or her immediate supervisor, the Compliance Officer, or the Chief Executive Officer.

Qualifications

 

Minimum of 21 years of age.

 

High school diploma or equivalent or higher.

 

Valid PA Department of Health Certification as an ALS provider, and remain eligible for medical command authorization.

 

Maintain current successful course completion at all times in the following programs:

 

·Basic Cardiac Life Support;

·Advanced Cardiac Life Support;

·Pediatric Advanced Life Support; and

·Prehospital Trauma/Basic Trauma Life Support.

 

Valid driver’s license.

 

Must not have been convicted within the last four (4) years of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and within the last two (2) years, has not been convicted of reckless driving, or had a driver's license suspended under the point system. 

 

Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (EVOC) completion.

 

HAZMAT R&I training within one (1) year of the date of employment.

 

Meet all additional requirements as identified by the PA DOH.

 

Good customer service skills; able to exhibit cooperative communication with other employees, hospital consumers, and outside organizations who utilize CHEMS.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Working Conditions

 

Physical environment includes working in all ranges of inclement weather conditions, during all hours of the day.

 

Specific rescue situations may present variable amounts of noise and potentially dangerous work settings during patient care and disentanglement and extrication.

 

Hazards may include exertion in lifting and transferring patients, exposure to infectious conditions, and occasionally working in the vicinity of moving vehicle traffic, power rescue equipment, toxic chemicals, and high voltage.

 

Must be alert to potential violent patient responses.
